Breakfast food and great atmosphere? Let's find out.
Honestly, I went into Key's Cafe not sure what I was going to get. They have multiple locations all around Minnesota, as well as one in Hudson, WI. I was half expecting a Denny's atmosphere but was presently surprised.
I feel like you can not EVER go wrong with tater tots, and I was not wrong ordering these. Covered in a crunchy light layer of crisp, they offered a fantastic opener for my meal here. I've had a number of different tater tot dishes (Hi, I'm from the midwest and eat tater tot hot dish multiple times a year) and these were cooked to perfection.
Alright, this is a mouthful...
Smoked Turkey Benny with Cajun hollandaise sauce. Served with 2 eggs and hash browns. I've always been a fan of Eggs Benedict and this gave me major Eggs Benedict vibes. I'm not too experienced with breakfast food because honestly, I have not liked it for most of my life. I'm slowly working on broadening my views on breakfast food, this was a great way to do that. The hollandaise sauce was not the best I've had, but the rest of the dish was very nice. My server also helped me select this dish, since it was my first time at Key's Cafe, I really appreciated it.
Now this, Is what I can 100% get behind. I love coffee, It is basically my favorite drink. This night I decided with a caramel latte and was impressed by how well they made it. It had such a great balance of sweet and bitter.
This is a great place to stop whenever you are in Minnesota. With a list of other convenient locations, it is great that you have the option to go somewhere else other than the downtown St. Paul cafe. The food is incredible and it is a great variation from the regular options (Denny's, Perkins, and IHOP.)
This is about my perspective of St. Paul, and how it changed through my life.
Most of my childhood, I thought St. Paul was hours away, not knowing that it was only a 40 minute car ride to the west. I went to St. Paul a number of times, usually to the science museum, and enjoyed it every time. It was always an adventure heading into the "big" city with my mom and sister. The Science Museum of Minnesota is one of the coolest places to go as a kid, it is full of fun educational facts as well as activities.
My Teen Years
Like most teenagers, I enjoyed sneaking out and partaking in reckless activities. But instead of going to parties, I went on adventures. Finding abandoned buildings around the twin cities, randomly driving to the cities until the early morning, and exploring basically everywhere the endless highway could take me. During this time, I did not understand St. Paul. I knew about the city and thought it was interesting, but I never actually went further than driving through it.
Randomly one day, I decided to go into St. Paul and see what it was like inside the city. Instantly, I found an incredible atmosphere, I fell in love with the people and the buzz. St. Paul is like any other city, but it is littered with class. Its sister city Minneapolis, is a fantastic city, but it has nothing on St. Paul's class. I currently am exploring St. Paul and constantly find noteworthy things. From nightlife to family friendly fun, St. Paul has a fantastic vibe.
I did not expect to find what I did in St. Paul. It was always the city I drove by to get to Minneapolis or other destinations. This project exposed me to what was out there and made me realize what can happen when you simply change your perspective.
When people think of the Twin Cities, they usually think of Minneapolis and St. Paul ends up being a second thought. Let's change that! For St. Paul, and other cities, let's find out what is out there.
