Every morning, I wake up, roll over in bed, and instantly see a soft pink glow. - Color Psychology - "Color psychology suggests that different colors can have an impact on our moods, feelings, and even behaviors" - Article by verrywellmind.com I recommend everyone that is interested in color psychology read this. I've always been interested in accent walls. They can take a boring, uncomfortable room, and turn it into something beautiful. Two months ago, my mother remodeled our whole house. This meant it was time to redecorate/repaint my room. Picking a main color theme wasn't very hard, but I decided I wanted a simple accent wall. That triggered a difficult question; what color do I want to wake up and see every morning? I knew it would change the overall vibe of my room. It sounds pretty ridiculous thinking about it now, but I lost sleep over this decision. My main concern was picking a color I did not like, then having to deal with it until I was able to repaint it (at least one week later.) - How Colors Make You Feel - It is more than just about the colors you like, it is about how the colors make you feel. Blue Improves concentration because it calms the mind. Red Stimulates and excites the brain. Purple Can be calm and soothing, like most cool colors. Orange Elicits the feelings of excitement, warmth, and playfulness. Pink Signifies vulnerability and safety, as opposed to the aggression of red. All you have to do is this; decide what you are needing to feel right now (relaxed, energized, focused, etc,) pick a color based off that, then look into different shades. You simply pick the shade that resonates with you the most, and paint away. I was going through a lot of personal stress during the time I painted my wall. I picked pink because I really needed something to help keep me calm and relaxed. Adding the pink wall completely changed the atmosphere of my room, and set me up for daily success. I've never heard of people combining the idea of color psychology with accent walls before, but I think it is a great idea. You would be able to change the wall color/shade depending on what you are really needing in that moment. Not saying you should repaint your wall every week, it is just a great way to help shape your mindset for the day. I've noticed the benefits of surrounding yourself with colors that you enjoy. I think you should give it a try.
