Over the last two years I've been clubbing on a semi consistent basis, at least once a month. One thing I've learned is the clubbing activities do not end just because the temperature drops below zero. Braving the cold is just something you'll have to do if you want to club during the winter months in MN. Most of the clubs in Minneapolis are right on Hennepin Ave, which is right in the heart of the city. When the college students are back in school, they can be found filling the clubs around the city during the night. Some clubs even offer free drinks if you bring your college ID with you. This provides a perfect opportunity for broke college students to get out and explore the city. Like most cities, good parking can be super expensive. Uber and Lyft can also be expensive, especially if you are starting a little further out. That is why you're willing to walk a little further for parking that is only $6.00 for the whole night. This is not too challenging during the summer months, but when it is cold, you have to think ahead. If you're a college student, you do not want to spend money on a coat check, so you drop the coat and run. We've lost many girlfriends on the great dash to the club, mostly due to wearing heels. This is just what you have to do when you wanna go out on a budget. My top trick is this, wear a jacket you can easily tie around your waste and make it a look. This is only okay if you are going to a club that is a little more chill. - Breakdown - Park cheap, but not too far away. Dress warm, but no coat. DO NOT wear heels unless you are ready to fail. Ignore the drunk crowds, just get to the club. If you pregame in the parking garage, pop some mints before you leave. Just pregame period, the liquor will keep you warm. If there are not any cars coming, just cross, no one follows that rule here. Have your IDs and money ready as soon as you are in line. Once you are in, start dancing to warm up. Now... I may joke about this, but NEVER leave a fallen girl behind. Minneapolis can be very dangerous if you are alone. It can be perfectly safe, but it is best to travel in groups.
